The family initially worked in several fields of trade, starting with grain and livestock, then expanding into food, mainly dates, a delicacy in Iraq. Building on local success, the family began exporting goods to the states of the Persian Gulf and the Levant.
Decades of innovation, modernisation and expansion followed and the family began to expand into real estate and construction, in Iraq to begin with, and then overseas.
